Do you believe that a lot of your circumstances are created by thoughts and feelings in your mind?
I mentioned in my blog, "The time is now," how I've allowed other people's thoughts and opinions of me, hold me prisoner in my own mind. Notice how I mention that I allowed this to take place. It is easy to go into victim mode and blame everyone else for our circumstances. Now, I am not saying that people's words can't cause damage because they most certainly can, but there is no freedom in being a victim. We can sometimes imprison ourselves in our own minds but the good news is, we can also set ourselves free. We have to be aware and careful, how we speak to ourselves. If you keep telling yourself, "I can't have my own business or I am not good enough or not qualified enough," then you are going to start believing this about yourself. So, when someone comes along and says, "you don't have a degree, you are not qualified to do what you are trying to do," this will magnify your inner voice of self-doubt. When we already believe the negative thoughts about ourselves and then other people, regardless of their intentions tell us something that sounds similar to what we already believe about ourselves, we lock ourselves up in our minds, we get scared and paralysis can take place. When paralysis or imprisonment in our minds take place, it will destroy the potential for us to move forward, walk in our purpose, explore our dreams and be a light in someone else's life.
I have more good news for you and I; Our minds can be transformed if we are open and obedient to God's word.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.
-Romans 12:2 (New International Version).
I have learned that practicing to keep my thoughts on God and what he would want me to do, will not only please and glorify God but it will keep me out of trouble. Yes, I said, keep me out of trouble. When we are chasing people, possessions and other things of this world, we are out of alignment with what God wants for us and our lives. I am not saying that you will never have an unclean and doubtful thought, that is not realistic but you can decide which thoughts you will submit to.
What you can do is get committed and consistent about redirecting and replacing your negative thoughts, to thoughts that are good, positive, empowering, inspirational and encouraging. When you have positive thoughts, you can have a positive life. Redirecting and replacing your negative thoughts will take practice, especially if your head has been filled with negativity for years.
Being consistent about reading, meditating and applying God's word, can help you to transform your mind. If you are consistent about reading God's word, it will eventually become a part of your thoughts and before you know it, you will start making better choices. You will also start to think differently about yourself and others. This is where the shifting and transformation of our mind takes place. Again, this takes consistency. Consistency and discipline will give you results. You have to want this.
Along with the desire to shift our mindsets, we have to have faith in God and His word, as well as be obedient to God's word. We can't just read God's word; we have to put in the work. It is going to take consistent work to shift our mindsets. We can do it! We will do it!
Let's allow God's word to transform our minds, thoughts and habits.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
James 2:17 (New International Version)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
-Philippians 4:13 (New King James Version)
God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind.
- 2 Timothy 1:7 (New King James Version)
So True sister. People negative words can mess you up if you allow it
